Staying Inspired
“When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.” - Rumi
Around this time every year, people begin to feel distant from their everyday lives. Days are shorter, the air is frigid, and human interaction is at an all time low. Falling into a rut feels inevitable and your creativity can really suffer. Now, more than ever, the world needs your beautiful mind! Here are some ways to stay inspired for these winter months.
Try Something New
For as little as 10 minutes a day, try doing something you don’t normally do! It could be as simple as looking through your fridge and making something new out of leftovers or reading a novel outside of your usual genre. Trying something new provides a sense of ordinary adventure that we all could use about now.
Write! Write! Write!
You don’t have to be a writer to write. In fact, you don’t even need to form real sentences! Creating lists is just as rewarding. Find an old notebook, probably leftover from your college years, and just write. I know starting with a blank page can feel overwhelming, so here are some prompts to help you get started:
Make a bucket list
Make a list of things you’re curious about - then pick one and do 30 minutes of research! Report what you learned (or don’t!)
Write out your goals and dream up a plan
Re-Evaluate Your Surroundings
Look around you. Is there something in your space that has been taking up mental real estate without you even realizing it? It’s hard to have a clear head when you are surrounded by mental or even physical clutter. Take the time to clear out the unnecessary baggage so you can make room for all the good stuff that’s to come.
